What Apple needs to do now « Adam Greenfield’s Speedbird
Description
Yes, this, absolutely. The god awful page turns in iBooks, the retro yellow-paper style of Notes (yellow paper is an American thing, anyway - I've never scribbled a note on lined yellow paper in my life), and yes, the really tedious iPad calendar. (I'm also interested to learn that there's actually a word for this sort of crap design: Skeuomorphic.) I suspect their argument for this sort of thing is that they're producing devices that are necessarily futuristic, and they want to make sure that less bleeding-edge users feel comfortable, so they're delibarately using old interface metaphors in places, and that's fine - just give me the option to turn them off, and have a more device-appropriate interface as well. I promise I won't get future shock.
