How I’d Hack Your Weak Passwords - Passwords - Lifehacker
Description
For real and serious: if you have any passwords that are not at least 8 characters long with one non-alphanumeric character, change them now. In the first place, this article explains exactly *how* attackers crack the password to your bank account (and it's not by attacking your bank account) and it explains how long it will take them to do. And there's a table in there that makes it very clear how that one, very, very small change (come on - you can remember an 8 letter word, and a number, can't you?) will make your password so practically hard to crack that it simply isn't worth the bother of trying. (The article also has links to applications that will take over your password management so that your passwords *are* uncrackable within a human lifetime.)
